Morocco film locations are in three main areas: the imperial city and contemporary, the mountains and the desert.
The city:
For centuries; the dynasties that have ruled the country, built four cities which are called here in Morocco: imperial cities. The city of Fes, regarded as the oldest medieval city and the world's largest, was built by the Idrissid dynasty (Adarissah in Arabic). When the Almoravids (Arabic Mourabitines), built Marrakech, also called the city of red the colour of its walls and buildings.
At the end of governance the Almoravids, the Almohads (Mouahidins in Arabic) drove them out of Marrakech, Rabat built then made their capital. Meknes was built during the Government of one of the sultans of the Alaouites dynasty, Alaouiyines in Arabic, Moulay Ismail. During the reign of Mohamed Ben Abdellah, Grand son of Moulay Ismail, Casablanca and Marrakech were rebuilt and fortified in the 18th century. Kenitra and Ouarzazate were built by the French, in the first half of the 20th century, as the military garrisons.
The mountains:
The mountains of the Rif in northern Morocco, are part of the Baetic Cordillera, a mountain in the South of Spain. In addition, the beauty of the landscape, the region's major cities: Tangiers, Tetouan and Chefchaouen, have a typical Spanish architecture reminiscent of the South of Spain. The Atlas mountains Morocco cross from North-East to the South, up to three ranges to break: the Middle Atlas, High Atlas and Anti-atlas. Maximum heights go more than 4000 meters and can be very heavy snowfall during the winter, both in the Middle Atlas (Ifrane and Azrou) and the High Atlas mountains (Oukaimeden, Imlil and Ighrman).
Atlas ranges are a natural obstacle that prevents the Atlantic depressions. Consequently, the region East of the mountains and below, in addition to its proximity to the great Sahara from Mali, present a contrasted landscape of mountains, the water flows invisibly under magnificent OASIS, surrounded by thousands of Palm trees and narrow cultivated plots of land. Kasbah solemnly, higher scenario. Large sand dunes in the South-East of Ziz Valley and the city of Erfoud are a sophisticated film for filmmakers and favorite place for tourists.
