Eco-Friendly Trekking in Morocco

Early explorers count once Atlas mountains Morocco the best in Africa. Today, tourist numbers are up the climb (pun). Although as hikers and walkers in a very unique position, we must all be of one mind. This is to say, as more and more people travel to Morocco for trekking and hiking in the High Atlas mountain, there must be an ever-present consciousness inside visitors to minimize eco-, economic-and cultural impacts.

Unfortunately, walkers and hikers to Morocco must make the first step to preserve Morocco's best hiking and trekking destinations, namely those in the High Atlas mountains surrounding the Park Jbel Toubkal, Ait Bougmez Valley and Me Goun, together with the regions and of Jbel Sirwa Sahro.

Morocco travel agencies are also responsible, then, to spread the news in order to minimize the negative impact, accompanied by involuntary or belligerent defacement of the natural beauty of Morocco.

Environmental efforts to minimize the impact in Morocco

1. Minimize the size of the groups: the smallest of the group, the less impact. May not be wise to hike entirely alone, especially if you're a lonely woman (sorry).

2. Minimize supplies: do not bring more than necessary. Much is available on the road, especially on Mount Toubkal in the High Atlas mountains.

3. bring water filter devices: with pumps, filters, chemicals and UV available, minimize the waste of bringing bottled water filtration devices.

4. remove packaging from products before hitting the trails.

5. Revive the bowels and bladders abused at least 70 feet (20) downhill from campsites and water sources. Dig deep into a hole as possible. If not, cover the waste with leaves, dirt and sticks.

6. cleaning up trash along the way: If you see the packaging or plastics, pick them up and transport them out of the Park. Someone may have inadvertently dropped.

7. use biodegradable soaps and shampoos to washing.

8. stay on track and avoid smashing plants or branches.

Efforts to minimize the economic impact in Morocco:

1. Employ local guides Mule drivers in the area. If you are using a locally-based tour operator that Morocco, know the best way to exploit the resources of areas.

2. it's nice to camp at times. However, staying in local Hotels or homes, gites is a great way to give back to the community in which they are moving through.

3. Buy locally. You can create some nice Trail Mix from Marrakech. Buy dried fruit from medina and mix with the variety of dried fruit and had natural energy, for days on end.

4. do not pay or pay too little. This creates a cycle of inflation and addiction. Open a display to give too much could make others envious in the local community.

5. Maintain good relations. Bargaining is part of the culture, everywhere in Morocco. Tips are expected, and generally given. Ten percent is the usual courtesy nowadays. A bit more is not considered excessive, especially if you've used guides for days on end.

Cultural commitment to minimize the impact in Morocco:

1. Ask before taking pictures.

2. send them the photos once you've gotten into the House. The system of mail delivery works well in Morocco (mostly).

3. Respect the holy sites. Your path will cross with those local visiting holy places. Be sensitive and respectful ways you know how.

4. not giving gifts or money to children.

5. try not to play the doctor. If someone has to be helped, then do your best, but be warned. If you make them worse, will be the one to blame.

6. Give excess medical supplies for a local in a higher position to distribute things like this person sees necessary.

7. If you ask, does not make it seem like paradise is not. Be sure to paint a realistic picture, intercultural, which describes the goods and their positive and your home.

With these three series of travel tips in the round, the Morocco, trekking or hiking adventure travel will be one of the best in your life. Cordial people, interesting customs and seductive landscape make travel in this part of North Africa as special as everywhere on the planet-so enjoy!
